As of January 1st, 2021 nominations are now open for residents interested in running in Starland County. All persons running for municipal office in Alberta should be familiar with the process as well as the governing legislation, the Local Authorities Elections Act. This document will give you a good feel for what to expect when running for office and what the job entails. All candidates running for municipal office in Starland County need to fill out the forms contained in the link below. They include the nomination form which requires basic information about yourself as well as the signatures of at least 5 Electors who live in the division in which you are running. The second form is a candidate information form in which information about campaign finances and records must be disclosed. These two forms are required for every candidate wishing to run in the municipal election. The third form is a candidate media profile and should contain any information you wish the public to know about you when you run. This form is not necessary however candidate's who want to fill it out can be assured that we will publish the information in the Starland County section of the Drumheller Mail.
